John Andersen is a largely self-taught American realist painter living near in West Michigan. John’s greatest influences in landscape painting include JMW Turner, Casper David Frederich, Claude Monet, George Inness and Andrew Wyeth. Mr. Andersen sees their approach to landscape painting as visionary, poetic and even spiritual rather than analytical. John’s central themes are change and memory. He paints the transient and ephemeral qualities of the light and atmosphere in the changing season with waxing or waning light. He paints in the style of the old masters. John is truly an old soul in the body of a young man.
NOTE: You can view John Andersen’s art and the artworks of over 60 other artists here at J. Petter Galleries. See our Events page to find out if any of your favorite artists will be visiting us for an Artist’s Reception this season.
