Kalamazoo resident and Southern California native, the self-taught Steve Howland specializes in segmented wood turnings. Steve mainly produces beautiful ‘mosaic’ vases, but has been know to create platters and bowls when the mood strikes. He loves having access to all of the native woods available to him in Southwest Michigan, but also incorporates exotic woods into the mix for a wide range of colors and textures. Howland has a recurring theme of sailboats in his work which brings him back to growing up on the California coast watching sailboats sail in the Santa Monica Bay.
You may view the work of Steve Howland and many more fine artists during a visit to the J. Petter Galleries. Please see the events page to find our when some of your favorite gallery artists are having artists’ receptions.
